Sharkwaters

My opinion of the awesome documentary Sharkwaters which is about the problem about overfishing shark fins is very sad. Sharks are very peaceful animals but movies as Jaws make the look as if they are monsters and that is why people are scared of them. This movie made me see that sharks are not the enemy and I learned that they help us survive. My opinion of the people that kill sharks for their fins is that they are very greedy and they don´t see the things they are doing to the ecosystem. I liked the thinking of the Chinese bride that had been documented because she said that shark fin soup really is not that needed and that what they are doing to the sharks is as if they grabbed her, took off her ear, and left her for her to bleed to death.
One thing I learned about sharks is that they are needed in the ecosystem. Sharks eat lots of the fish they eat feed in plankton. Plankton at the sea produces most of the air we breathe. If the sharks’ don´t eat that fish they will reproduce and there population will be so big that they will eat more plankton and we will lose air. The more sharks we have in the ocean probably the more air from the plankton we will have.
Another thing Sharkwaters teaches me happened when they were talking to the guy that was the manager of a shark fin industry and what the main character said. Sharks are said to be monsters and movies as Jaws make sharks look as monsters when they are the ones that help us survive. I liked how in the documentary says that the human has a need to have a monster in its environment. I learned that sometimes us believe in something that is not true and finish us being the monster. If we kill all the sharks in the world what will be our next “monster”. A cat? What will happen when we wipeout every animal? Will we be the next? All of this is what I learned.
I think- no am sure that we need to help to stop overfishing sharks. What I will do to stop the killing of sharks is that I will never drink shark fin soup. If we don´t drink shark the ones that kill sharks will not make more money and will stop fishing shark fins. To do this it will take the help of everyone. I know that together we can stop the overfishing of shark fins. Together we will stop this problem.

The Meaning of being a Harpy Eagle

A harpy eagle is the one that is powerful but prefers not to use that power. He is the one that is big and might, sometimes in the inside and sometimes in the outside. A real harpy eagle knows that he is free but that is doesn’t means that he will fly with the rest of the flock. He knows that someone’s power is not bases on the clothing they use but of the feelings that clad their hearts. A harpy eagle knows that is you are not proud of your habitat you have to be the change you want to see.  A harpy eagle knows that you should always be loyal. The harpy eagle has winds so big to help him on his long trip to royalty. A harpy eagle knows when to leave the nest but also knows that it has to be loyal to its elders. Finally a harpy eagle never give up that is why they starve looking for food.

Small Steps

Small Steps is a novel by the award winner author Louis Sacar. In Small Steps Armpit faces different problems as he tries to keep going with his small steps, a list of things he wants to do to get a better future. One day X-ray, his old friend from Camp Green Lake, comes to him with an idea for him to double his money. From a simple busness of ticket scalping a huge problem starts. The day of the concert Armpit asks X-ray to give him two tickets for him to go to the rock concert of Kaira DeLeon. X-ray starts a series of breathtaking, funny, and sad moments when, instead of giving Armpit the tickets, gives him fake tickets to get $400 sealing thus tickets.
In the concert Kaira invites Armpit and Ginny- Armpit’s handicapped neghbore that symbolizes perseverance- to see the concert backstage because they were selling counterfeit tickets. From that moment a huge friendship between Ginny and Kaira started wile a romance between Armpit and her flourished.
While there is a friendly relationship between Armpit and Kaira another problem happens in his life. A police woman starts to investigate the counterfeit tickets, which gets to become a big problem because Armpit lies to her to try to keep X-ray from going to jail. The lies get him in such a problem that in no time he got a guy black nailing him. Felix, the dude that is black nailing Armpit, tells Armpit to give him the love letter Kaira wrote to him. The letter becomes a symbol of catastrophe and the cause of Kaira breaking up with Armpit.
The climax of the novel is when Kaira invites Armpit to a fancy hotel at San Frasisco for them to be together for 3 days. While they walked Armpit asked a favor to Kaira destroying the relationship. When he gets back to the hotel and goes in Kaira’s room for him to apologize he finds Jerome, Kaira's step-father, trying to kill Kaira. Armpit bets up Jerome and saves Kaira and himself.
The novel is full of characters and problems but from the moment you read the title you can see the theme of the story. However, it is easy to say that the theme is to take small steps but you need to read the book to understand the real meaning of small steps. I the end of the novel the author make Armpit hear the new song of Kaira. If you read the song you understand what small steps will do in your life. The novel shows that taking big steps in life, obviously symbolically, will knock you down. At the end small steps will help you discover who you are and will ensure you a great future. Small steps may be something that you think only happens in books but no. taking small steps is one of the healthiest practices you may have to get a bright future. Luis Sacare brought out this novel to encourage the young masses to take a hold on their future and to take small steps. I was moved so much by this novel that by the end I made my own list of small steps.
1.      Save money for university.
2.      Avoid situations that may turn violent.
3.      Graduate from school with exemplary grades.
4.      Look for a good university.
5.      Lose the name Armadillo
I finish this with; to the public at large, take small steps

Eighteen

18,
Age of flying birds.

18 age full of,
Roads to come,
miles to cover.

18 age of conflicts,
Hearts cracked as stone,
And problems,
To resolve.

18 age of drought.
Age in which green is scarce.

18 age of love.
Age of the white dress and
Of the tux.
Of “I do’s”
And smiles.

18 age that is wanted,
That is magical.
Sadly
I’m only 13

A Piranhan that is Actualy a Dolfin

By Stradlater
The baseball glove had poems written in green shiny ink. The glove, that old glove belonged to Jose. Jose was a controversial red head who always had a benevolent smile.  His hair made him look fierce as a piranha but past that red hair he was the nicest person I ever met, that boy was my brother.
His glove was the same as him, smooth but you could count on it to protect your hand. The glove had poems that show what kind of person he is. I remember how his face lit up when he caught a ball for the first time in a minor league final. That was the start of the great connection with that glove. However, he didn't only care about the glove. He cared of me more than anybody in the whole wide world.
In a hot afternoon I was in the golf field were our family goes. I was practicing my swings in the hot sun. If it got hotter the world will burn in flames and will become a sun. When I turned around I saw Jose sitting next to his bike. He was an indiscreet blob sitting in the grass. Who in the right mind will be out in the sun doing nothing? After a second of turbulence in my mind, everything cleared. He loved me so much he was in the torment of the sun, checking to see if I was fine. The glove was just as him- soft and gentle and you could really trust it.
One day the glove couldn´t catch any other ball. It wasn’t that the symbolic glove had broke- its fancy leather was to tough for that. He was about 16 when he died. I was impressed of how such athletic kid could look so bad. He had been killed by an enormous green monster with teeth sharp as blades, and it was called leukemia. He had come out of the hospital but he had to be taken back to the hospital. A river of tears was forming all over his family because he was always the favorite. I entered my room to cry and is my bed the baseball glove was there. The glove was ever so smooth and had poems in shiny green ink. Maybe such a loving brother died for his brother to get more attention. No, he wouldn’t do that because he will know the tremendous effect he caused in me. The only thing he left me was his love and the glove, his special glove
